Exatec expands PC glazing facility
Polycarbonate glazing systems supplier Exatec (Wixom, Mich.)
has broadened the range of coating technologies it offers.
Exatec, which is owned by SABIC Innovative Plastics (Pittsfield,
Mass.), is expanding its main facility in Wixom to offer
enhanced process development and prototype capabilities,
notably for panoramic roof systems. The expansion includes
a full-scale plasma system for continuously coating PC windows,
an upgraded wet coating lab, and a new Engel injection molding
press.
Exatec was founded in 1988 as a 50-50 joint venture between
GE Plastics, which SABIC bought last year, and Bayer MaterialScience.
Subsequently, GE bought Bayer's share, and SABIC IP now owns
the entire venture.
